What is financial planning?
A financial planner guides you in meeting your current financial needs and long-term goals. That typically means assessing your financial situation, understanding what you want your money to do for you (both now and in the future) and helping create a plan to get you there.
Financial advisors are like doctors: Some are specialists in defined areas, such as retirement, taxes or managing investments. Others, are general practitioners that focus on everything from budgeting to insurance.
At Retirement Lifestyles Advisors, we specialize in the areas of retirement which include the following;
Investment Management (IRA, Roth, 401k)
Insurance (Medicare, Long Term Care, Life)
Tax Planning
Social Security
Estate Planning
The RLA Planning Process
The Process - 3 Easy Steps
It all begins with compatibility.
We understand that we aren't necessarily the right firm for every single person, and that's okay. That is why the first step is an "Initial Phone Consultation". We need to get to know each other.
We also want to make sure that we are able to provide you with the type of planning that you are looking for. If we can’t, we will try to point you in the right direction.
In general, our appointments book three to four weeks in advance. The consultation call is typically 30 minutes in length. There is no fee for the call.
The Process - Step 2
After your “Initial Phone Consultation”, we may find that our firm is able to help you in some capacity.
At this point you may choose to receive an “RLA X-Ray”.
If you had pain in your body and didn’t know what was causing it, wouldn't you go see a doctor? Of course you would.
Financial planning is no different. In order to make sure your finances are healthy we need to find out if anything is broken. The best way is with an “RLA X-Ray”.
There is a one-time X-Ray fee and you should expect up to 4 one hour in-person meetings.
The Process - Step 3
After we review your RLA X-Ray, you may choose to work with one of our Financial Planners in a long-term capacity.
During the first three to six months of our relationship, we may meet rather frequently, scheduling appointments probably once every six weeks.
After we have implemented your financial plan, it is imperative for us to continually monitor that plan. We like to meet with our clients no less than 4 times a year. Usually once in person and 3 times via telephone/video call.
Every three months might seem like a lot, but think about how quickly personal life changes.
Now think of economic ones. Markets move daily and can be volatile. Congress and the IRS make changes every year, creating obstacles and new opportunities for us to discuss.
